BANGOR – Janet Ann Fleming, 68, died unexpectedly May 11, 2004, at her home in Bangor. She was born in Machias, July 26 1935, the daughter of Edgar Stanley and Clarice Josephine (Smith) Gooch. Janet was a graduate of Bangor High School, attended the University of New Hampshire and graduated from the University of Maine, with a degree in elementary education. In more recent years, she had been employed as a salesperson at Freese’s and J.C. Penney Co. She was a member of the Pathway Wesleyan Church of Bangor. Janet enjoyed music, concerts, the theater, ballet, weaving and travel. Surviving are two daughters, Julia Lynn (Fleming) Simpson and her husband, Don of Dresden, Carol Elizabeth (Fleming) Williamson and her husband, Harland of Brewer; six grandchildren, Brandon, Lucas and Kyle Jellison, Matthew, Scott and Jamie Williamson; two sisters, Jeanne Everett of Hampden and Judith Jellison of Clifton; several nieces and nephews; and a very special friend, Laura-Jean Eckard of Bangor. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Thursday, May 13, 2004, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Friday with the Rev. Mike Tapper, pastor of the Pathway Wesleyan Church of Bangor, officiating. Interment with committal services, will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, May 15, at Jacksonville Cemetery (East Machias), with Drew Everett, a nephew of Janet’s, officiating.
