EASTPORT and SOUTH BOSTON – Jay Michael Suddy, 31, died unexpectedly Friday, March 11, 2005, in Charleston, S.C., in a tragic motor vehicle accident. Jay was born July 31, 1973, in Greenfield, Mass., the second born son to Allen and Avis Suddy. Jay left this life in the company of friends as he lived the entirety of his life. His friends are far reaching covering the country East to West coast and beyond in Australia and Scotland. After graduating from Shead High School in 1991, Jay attended the University of Maine in Presque Isle, where he graduated with an honors degree in sports medicine in 1995. Jay continued to be an avid soccer player from high school until currently. The love of the game brought him the gift of several of his closest friends. After spending several years in Maine, working as a student trainer at Maine Maratime Academy, director of fitness at Tradewinds in Rockland, and assistant athletic director at the Samoset, he moved back to the state in which he was born, along side one of his best friends, Arran “Eddie” Stevens. His profession landed him a job at Mathworks fitness center as director of fitness for two years. Jay excelled in his profession and was quickly recognized by his peers, which led him to his current position of fitness director at the Boston Athletick Club, where he was active in party planning for health fairs, South Boston Boys and Girls Club and the Special Olympics. Jay spent any free time away from work traveling to be with friends and vice versa. His closest confidant, Stephen Sullivan, accompanied Jay to several soccer games, hockey tournaments and baseball games. We have all enjoyed stories of their expeditions and will continue to do so. There is nothing in life that Jay enjoyed more than laughing and having fun. Jay lived a fast, passionate life and brought joy and pride to his family and countless friends.
