LINCOLN and DEARBORN HEIGHTS, Mich. – Jerome Michael Lovejoy, 70, died July 4, 2006, at a Michigan hospital. He was born Oct. 23, 1935, in Lincoln, the son of Jerome and Hilda (Smith) Lovejoy. Jerry graduated from Mattanawcook Academy and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in engineering from the University of Maine at Orono. He was employed in the defense industry for many years and for the past 10 years was a contact engineer with Ford Motor Company. He lived in California for several years, moved back to Maine for a while, and had lived in Michigan for more than 30 years. Jerry loved horses. He was part of the drill team, North American Flying Horsemen and had ridden Arabian horses with them in the Rosebowl Parade. He married Joy Dudley, Feb. 2, 1956, and they have two children, Brian Lovejoy and his wife, Annie, of White Lake, Mich. and Cherie Scanlon and her husband, Thomas, of Windham. In addition to his parents, Joy, and his children, he is survived by a brother, Louis Lovejoy and his wife, Kay, of Victoria, British Columbia; three grandchildren, Tianna, Jordan and Tyson; a nephew, Nicholas Lovejoy and his wife, Marilyn; and their daughter, Willow. He also leaves his special cat, Buddy Boy. Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 12, at the Lincoln Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Bruce Young officiating.
