BREWER – Joan M. Dumont, 77, wife of the late Ashley Dumont, died June 6, 2007, surrounded by her family at her home, after a lengthy illness. She was born July 12, 1929, in Bangor, the daughter of Howard and Mary (Simmons) Augherton. Joan was a longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Brewer and worked for Viner Shoe Co., for many years. She enjoyed her ceramic business that she operated out of her home, dancing with her husband, Ashley, snowmobiling and her camp on Green Lake. She is survived by her son, David Mackin and wife, Sandra and their family of Hampden; her daughter, Maryann and husband, Patrick Murray, of Orrington; brother, Howard Augherton of Bangor; sister, Sally Taylor of Brewer; two grandchildren and their husbands, Kelly and David Austin of Brewer and Sheri and Peter Norwood of Orrington; three grandchildren, Jared, Kathryn and Ethan; special niece, Julie Taylor, other nieces and nephews; and a loving friend, that she thought of as a “daughter,” Bonnie Robertson. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Pat Varney. Joan’s strong reassuring presence will be greatly missed. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday, June 9, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Brewer, with the Very Rev. Richard Mc-Laughlin pastor, celebrant. Interment will be at Mount Pleasant Catholic Cemetery, Bangor, immediately after the service.
