ISLAND FALLS – Joanne Desmond, 78, died Nov. 12, 2007, in Houlton. She was born Jan. 18, 1929, in Houlton, the daughter of Roland and Mona (Astle) Kinney. She was a member of the Whittier Congregational Church She is survived by two children, L. Phillip Jr. and his wife, Belinda Desmond, of Crystal, and Patti and her husband, Ted Hartin, of Island Falls; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, Scott and his wife, Jennifer Desmond and their children, Aidan and Emma, Steven and his wife, Michelle Desmond and their son, Evan, Stephanie Desmond, Matthew Desmond, Lindsay Desmond and Wyatt Hartin; one brother, Roland Kinney Jr. of Brookfield, Conn.; and two sisters, Helen “Peggy” Griffin of Largo, Fla., and Lois Kennedy of Fort Wayne, Ind.; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, Lloyd “Sike” Desmond. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Friday at Bowers Funeral Home, Island Falls, where funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday with the Rev.
