BANGOR – John Andrew Carter, 34, died April 12, 2006, at Massachusetts General Hospital from complications related to liver disease. He was born Sept 10, 1971, in Houlton, to Ronnie Arthur Carter and Sheila Kennedy Carter. John was a funny, smart, talented man. He developed his artistic ability at a very young age and enjoyed creating unique and individual pieces. His artwork is a legacy he left behind for us. John also enjoyed acting and was involved in the drama group at his high school for three years. He won several acting awards at regional play competitions, including Best Male Actor and All Festival Cast. His acting ability was recognized by the University of Maine, where he was offered a full drama scholarship. John was blessed to have people in his life from whom he learned skills and interests that stayed with him always. From his dad, he learned about trailer trucks; from John Getchell he learned to hunt and fish, and from his Papa Paul, he developed a love for motorcycles. John was especially proud of his 1984 Harley Davidson sportster. John met and married Clarice, the love of his life, when he was 29. He treasured his time as a husband and as a dad to Taylor and Kyle. John was so proud of the boys and their skills and accomplishments. He cheered Taylor on at football games, spent hours drawing with Kyle, and encouraged their interests and answered their questions. He felt blessed to have them and their love all around him. John is survived by his cherished wife, Clarice of Bangor; his wonderful boys, Taylor and Kyle Dube of Glenburn and Bangor; his father, Ronnie Carter of Madison; his mother and Papa, Sheila and Paul Worsaa of Bangor; his brother, Jason Carter and his wife, Cari and sons, Orion and Baelen of California; his sister, Pamela Moss and husband, Donny and family of California; his sister, Valerie Lindsay and family of Orrington; his aunt, Judith Swimm and husband, Glen and family of Monticello; his aunt, Janice Carter and her friend, Edie, of Madison; his uncle, Bill Kennedy of Florida; his great-aunt, Ruth Shorey and husband, Edward, of Bangor; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by both sets of grandparents and several great-aunts and great-uncles. A celebration in tribute to John’s life will be held 6:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 18, at Kiley Funeral Home, 69 State St., Brewer.
