CALAIS – John Harvey Russell, 92, died Thursday, Aug. 11, 2005, at a Calais nursing home. John was born Aug. 5, 1913, in St. Stephen, N.B., son of the late Leverett and Jennie (Norton) Russell. He was employed by Algar’s Dry Cleaning in Calais for 30 years, served in the Canadian Army, Engineers, and enjoyed spending time with his family and children. John was predeceased by his brothers, Gardiner, Harmon, Donald, Ralph, Harold, Elwell and Kenneth Russell; and a sister, Phyllis. Surviving are his loving wife, Nellie M. (Kallenberg) Russell of Calais; three children, David Russell and wife, Susan, of Lewiston, N.Y., Janet Greenlaw of Calais, and Jeffrey Russell and wife, Lynne, of Calais; a sister, Viola Gibson; sisters-in-law, Hilda, Eleanor and Irene Russell and Marion Pignatelli and husband, Tony; brothers-in-law, Kenneth Kallenberg and wife, Edythe, and Carl Bernier; seven grandchildren, Kristen Smith and husband Rob, Melissa Johnson and husband, Dana, Michael Russell, Jackie Levick and husband, Keith, and Nikki, Mitch and Kenny Russell; and three great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Brooke and E. Nathan. Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 16, in Calais Cemetery with Pastor Bob Hinton officiating. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais.
