LINCOLN – John S. Powers, 72, husband of Ruth (Cust) Powers, died Nov. 4, 2005, at his home. He was born July 17, 1933, in Burlington, the son of James H. and Harriet (Jipson) Powers. John was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War. He was employed for 42 years at Lincoln Pulp & Paper as recovery boiler operator. He took care of his family and enjoyed camping and traveling. In addition to his wife, Ruth; he is survived by a son, Roger and his wife, Marybelle, of St. Petersburg, Fla.; and a daughter, Brenda and her husband, William Crocker, of Lincoln; six grandchildren, Celina Curtis and Jason, Jamie Powers and Dolly, Dawn Bracamonte, William Crocker and Jamie, Jana Rolerson, Amon and John Crocker; four great-grand-children, Bobbie Jo Bracamonte, Dominique Logan, Dana Stitham and Jude Powers; a brother, James Powers of Vancouver, Wash.; two sisters, Charlotte Mailman of Lincoln and Helen Merrill of Millinocket; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by five brothers and two sisters, Kenneth, Roland, Richard, Carroll, Phillip, Rita Boutot and Louise Robichaud. Graveside services, with full military honors will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11, at the Lincoln Cemetery, with the Rev. Gerald Craig officiating.
