LEWISTON – John T. C. Strout, 78, of Bolster Heights Health Care Facility, Auburn and formerly of Bangor, died Monday, March 27, 2006, at Central Maine Medical Center. He was born Feb. 19, 1928, in Bangor, the son of George and Maud (Carter) Strout. He had been a resident of Bangor for most of his life. He was a U.S. Army Veteran obtaining the rank of corporal and had served during the Korean War. He worked for many years as a chef’s helper at Pilot’s Grill in Bangor. John was a member of the American Legion Post No. 153 in Auburn, the Korean War Association in Bangor, and was a volunteer for the Salvation Army. He is survived by his wife, Elinor (Gott) (Richardson) Strout of Orono whom he married July 17, 1993; a daughter, Jane Lewis; two grandsons, Gene Strout and James Wells; his special niece, Ruthie Strout-Vinueza of New York; and by other nieces and a nephew. He was predeceased by his first wife, Frances Strout; two brothers, Donald and Billy Strout; and two sisters, Nellie Strout and Bertha Gorga. Funeral services with military honors will be held 1 p.m. Friday at the Maine Veterans Memorial New Cemetery, Mount Vernon Road, Augusta. Visitation will be held 9:30-11:30 a.m. Friday morning at the Guy B. Dostie Funeral Home, 101 Pine St., Lewiston. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in John’s name to the Activity Fund of Bolster Heights, 26 Bolster St., Auburn, ME 04210.
