JULIA E. HOSMER BANGOR – Julia E. Hosmer, 82, died Oct. 11, 2003, at the Maine Veterans Home. She was born Oct. 13, 1921, in Bangor, the daughter of Michael and Annie (Cawley) Mogan. Julia was a graduate of John Bapst High School and a lifelong parishioner of St. John’s Catholic Church. Julia was mom-Grammy-Great Grammy and friend and was loved and will be missed by all of us. She is survived by seven of her children; one son, Edward and his wife, Karen Hosmer, of Colorado; six daughters, Loretta Baily and companion Dean Colby, Joan Brown, Sharon and her husband, Bobby Hazelton, Denise and her husband, John McGrath, Marcia and her husband, Joey Larkin, all of Bangor; Suzanne and her husband, Scott McCutcheon of South Portland; a sister, Isabelle Wentworth of Old Town; a brother, Thomas Mogan; 19 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Gordon, on June 18, 2003, and a son, Michael, on Dec. 29, 2000; her parents and 14 brothers and sisters. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2003, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 16, 2003, with the Rev. Richard McLaughlin, pastor of St. John’s Catholic Church, officiating. Interment will be at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the home of Denise McGrath, 28 Falvey St., Bangor, following the services Thursday.
