COCOA BEACH, Fla. – Julia Margot LaMore, 64, passed away Tuesday morning, June 27, 2006, at Cape Canaveral Hospital. Julia Hokenstad was born Sept. 12, 1941, in Webster, S.D. She graduated from Minot North Dakota State Teachers College in 1963 and worked as an educator in North Dakota and Maine until the mid 1980s. Julie married Dennis Helgeson in 1964 and they lived in West Virginia and Maine. Dennis died in 1975. She married Kenneth LaMore in 1978 and they lived in Maine until moving to Cocoa Beach, Fla. in 1996. Julie was an active member of the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection in Cocoa Beach. She was a volunteer for the Cocoa Beach Public Library as well as for the Cocoa Beach elementary schools. Julie enjoyed social activities with her friends at her condo as well as playing a skilled game of Scrabble and doing many crossword puzzles. She was also an avid reader. Throughout the years, Julie dealt courageously with many health problems. In 2002, she was the recipient of a kidney that enabled her to spend these last years with her family. Julie is survived by her husband of nearly 28 years, Kenneth LaMore; a daughter, Anne Deschesne of Newburgh; a son, Scott Helgeson and his wife, Louise, of Murphreesboro, Tenn.; stepdaughters, Carol Grant and her husband, Don, Cathy George and her husband, Paul, Donna Veres and her husband, Mike, Susan Witt and her husband, David; and a stepson, John LaMore and his companion, Barbara Chasse. She also leaves grandchildren, Jade and Jasmine Deschesne, Sara, Ryan, Erika and Evan Helgeson, Tyler and Megan Grant, John and Abby LaMore, Paul and Brian George, Adam and Kevin Veres and Eli Witt; as well as two step-great-grandchildren. Other survivors include her sister, Ellen Gugisberg and her husband, Peter; brothers, Hal Hokenstad and his wife, Susan, Carl Hokenstad and his wife, Janice; several nieces and nephews, as well as many friends in Maine and Florida. Julie was a loving wife, sister, mother and grandmother who will be remembered for her brave spirit, positive attitude and strong faith. Memorial services will be held 10 a.m. Friday, June 30, at the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, 535 Minutemen Causeway, Cocoa Beach, Fla. and at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Bangor, 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 11.
