GLENBURN – Karen L. (Bartlett) Ward, 46, devoted wife and mother, died unexpectedly Dec. 28, 2007, at her home. She was born Feb. 9, 1961, in Brooklyn, N.Y., the daughter of Samuel “Fred” and Carolyn (Pearce) Bartlett. Karen attended St. John’s Catholic School and graduated from John Bapst High School in 1979. She was a graduate of Eastern Maine Medical Center School of Nursing in 1982 and spent the next 15 years at Eastern Maine Medical Center in many capacities. Karen enjoyed sharing music with her family, reading, was a loyal fan of the University of Maine hockey and a member of the Friends of Maine Hockey. Her special love was caring for her son, Cameron. She is survived by her husband of 24 years, Tim Ward, of Glenburn; one son, Cameron of Glenburn; one sister, Kristine Moody, and her children, Hannah and Sophie of Bangor; her mother, Carolyn Bartlett of Veazie; a dear friend, Mike Stellar, a caregiver to Cameron, of Orrington. She was predeceased by her father; one brother, Marc Bartlett; and a special grandmother, Blanche Shoppe. Friends may call 2-6 p.m. Tuesday at Greenlawn Memorial Funeral Home, 300 State St., Bangor. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Newman Center, 83 College Ave., Orono, with the Rev. Wilfred P. Labbe, pastor, officiating. In lieu of flowers, friends may make donations to the Friends of Maine Hockey or All Saints Catholic School.
