BANGOR – Karen Marie Foley, 25, passed away Dec. 24, 2004, at a Bangor hospital after a short illness. She was surrounded by family and loving friends who supported her all through her illness. Karen was born Feb. 26, 1979, in Bangor. She attended Saint Mary’s grammar school, Fifth Street Middle school and was a member of the Class of 1997 at Bangor High School. Karen graduated from Eastern Maine Technical College with a degree in Childhood Development and was in her senior year at the University of Maine, Augusta at the time of her illness. Karen loved children and dedicated herself to helping them all. She was a graduate of the YMCA Camp Jordan Leaders School, a counselor at Camp Molly Molasses and worked as a park director for Bangor Parks and Recreation. She was blessed with the desire to help special needs children and had the opportunity to work with many the last few years of her life. At the time of her death, she was a behavior specialist working at Gentiva Inc. and will be sadly missed by all who received her special loving care. She is survived by her parents, John and Carolyn Foley of Bangor; a brother, David of Clearwater, Fla.; grandparents, Lloyd Foley of Bangor and Ann Foley of Hingham, Mass.; uncles and aunts, Michael and Beverly Foley of Bangor, Bob Reynolds and friend, Twinkle Leadbetter of Bangor, Gary and Peggy Reynolds and Pleasant Valley, N.Y., Jim and Linda Foley of Braintree, Mass. and Bob and Louise Viola of Stoughton, Mass. and many loving cousins. Karen will also be missed by the many friends who were a big part of her life including her special friend, Tom Tozier of Bangor. Relatives and friends may call 1-4 and 6-9 p.m. Tuesday at Foley Funeral Service, 299 Union St., Bangor. A Mass of Christian Burial will be con celebrated 11 a.m. Wednesday, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Thomas Lequin, pastor, principal celebrant. Interment will be in Mt. Pleasant Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donation can be made to the Karen Foley Scholarship Fund, Merrill Merchants Bank, 920 Stillwater Ave., Bangor, ME 04401.
