MACHIAS – Katherine L. “Kay” Schoppee, 92, passed peacefully away Sept. 4, 2007, after a brief illness. She was born Aug. 31, 1915, in Machias, the daughter of the late Philip and Elizabeth (Wallace) Reynolds. Kay spent much of her life working alongside her husband, Julian, at Schoppee’s Dairy. She will be remembered for her wonderful cooking and was recognized with an award at the Machias Blueberry Festival. Kay also enjoyed caring for her flowers and plants, and enjoyed researching her family’s genealogy. She was a member of the D.A.R.-Hannah Weston Chapter. Kay is survived is by her son, Nathan Schoppee and his wife, Gynell, of East Machias; special daughter-in-law, Mari-lyn Schoppee of Marshfield; grandchildren, Barbie Richard-son and husband, Steve, of Machias, Jason Schoppee and wife, Angel, of Holden, Danny Schoppee and wife, Wendy, of Machias, Ryan Schoppee and wife, Laurie, of Bucks Harbor, Nathan Schoppee and wife, Kathy, of Roque Bluffs, and Sheridan Parks and husband, Ryan, of Machias; many great-grandchildren; special nieces, Verna Lee LaGasse and husband, Richard, of Topsham, and Judy Kay Burke and husband, Lionel, of Brunswick; sister-in-law, Louise Moore of Bar Harbor; and her “special family” at Marshall Health Care Facility. Kay was predeceased by her husband, Julian C. Schoppee, in 1997; a son, Kenneth Schoppee; brothers, Philip and Kenneth Reynolds; a sister, Christine Watts; and a nephew, Frederick Watts.
