BUCKS HARBOR – Kenneth L. Wood, 80, went home to be with the Lord, Dec. 7, 2004, after a long illness, at Maine Coast Memorial Hospital. He was born June 25, 1924, in Machiasport, the son of the late Stephen and Carrie (Hicks) Wood. Kenneth was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Army. He attended the Larrabee Baptist Church for many years. Kenneth spent his life on the water on the “Debbie Lee” along side his grandson, Kenny, showing him the ways of the water. Each day he will be sadly missed as the boats leave the harbor. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Rachel (Pettegrow) Wood; daughter, Debbie Nielsen and husband, David, of Machiasport; sisters, Beatrice Graham of Chelsea, Winona Lopes of Manchester, Conn., Margaret Flaherty of Machiasport, Lois Wasson of Old Town, Nellie Gatcomb of East Machias; brother, John Wood of Machiasport; grandchildren, Amanda Bickford of Westbrook, Conn., Jennifer Norton of Machiasport, Kenneth Link and his wife, Dawn, of Machiasport; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Bickford, Harry Bickford, Ryan Norton, Haylee Link, Caroline White, Caitlyn Link, and Madeline White; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Stephen Wood Jr. Kenneth will be fondly missed by many loving friends. Visiting hours will take place 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 9, 2004 at Bragdon-Kelley Campbell Funeral Home, 6 Cooper St., Machias. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 10, 2004, at the Larrabee Baptist Church in Machiasport, with the Rev. Bill Holmes officiating. A private graveside service will be held for the immediate family. Friends are invited to a reception at Larrabee Baptist Church immediately following the service.
