LINCOLN – Roland F. Whittier, 80, husband of Mary Leah (Whalen) Whittier, passed away Dec. 7, 2004, at a Bangor hospital. He was born in Yarmouth, April 1, 1924, the son of Wesley and Inez (Smith) Whittier. He was a veteran of both the U.S. Army and the U.S. Air Force. He retired as an aircraft mechanic with the 112th Medical Unit of the Army National Guard. In addition to his wife, Mary Leah, he is survived by three children, Cleve and Katie Robinson of Palmer, Alaska, Gayle and Dwight Shedd of Brunswick, and Wesley Whittier of Humble, Texas; two grandchildren, Carson Shedd of Minneapolis, Minn. and Erin Shedd of Brunswick; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two sisters, Edwina Prest and Maybelle Worcester. Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Friday, at the Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Myles Cyr officiating. Interment will be in Lincoln Cemetery at a later date.
