CARMEL – Kenneth R. Thompson, 62, passed away Nov. 22, 2006, peacefully surrounded by his family at his Carmel home after a brief battle with cancer. He was an avid fisherman and family man. Kenny helped so many people who were down on their luck during his lifetime that it is impossible to list them all. He was a Vietnam veteran and he proudly served his country. He was director of the Hope House for many years, during which he was instrumental in creating a new facility. He is survived and sadly missed by four daughters, Johna and her husband, Kim Lovely, of Mapleton, Karen Murphy and her fianc?, Hartwell Kalel, of Orono, Christina Thompson and her fiance, Matt Ronaldson, of Brewer and his youngest daughter, Miranda Thompson of Carmel; three brothers, Paul and his wife, Cindy, of Eddington, Richard and his wife, Loretta, of Presque Isle, and Donald and his wife, Joanne, of Washburn; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Joyce; a granddaughter, Erin; and his son, Spencer. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 26, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 27, with the Rev. Clayton Blackstone, pastor of the Bangor Advent Christian Church, officiating. Interment will be at Washburn Extension Cemetery.
