CARIBOU – Laurina R. Martin, 80, beloved wife of the late Nelson J. Martin, died April 26, 2005, at a Caribou hospital after a brief illness. She was born Jan. 6, 1925, in Connor, the daughter of Levi and Delia (Gendreau) Soucy. She and her husband were Caribou residents for many years, where she was employed by the Birds Eye Potato processing plant. Laurina was a devoted member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church where she was a member of both the Ladies of St. Anne and the Daughters of Isabella, along with the Catholic Golden Age. She was also active in the Lister Knowlton Post VFW Auxiliary and the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary. She is survived by two sons, Daniel Martin and his wife, Georgie, of Van Buren, Donald Martin and his wife, Barbara, of Plainville, Conn.; one brother, Clarence Soucy of Monroe Falls, Ohio; sister, Stella LaCroix of Saco; four grandchildren, Terry Martin, Keilie Smith, Aron Martin, and Teasha Martin; three great-grandchildren, Ashley Martin, Natalie Martin and Ebon Martin; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband; and by three brothers, Clarence Soucy, Robert Soucy and Ernest Soucy; and by one sister, Lena M. Snyder. Prayer services will be held 6 p.m. Saturday at the Lancaster Morgan Funeral Home, 11 Clover St., Caribou, with Fr. David Raymond, Parochial Vicar of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, officiating. Family and friends may call from 4 p.m. until time of service at the chapel of the funeral home. Spring interment will be at the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, North Caribou.
