CAMPOBELLO ISLAND, New Brunswick – Lewis H. Chute, 89, passed away Monday, Dec. 4, 2006. Lewis was born Feb. 4, 1917, on Campobello Island, New Brunswick, the son of Lorenzo and Jerusha (Searles) Chute. Lewis enjoyed hunting and fishing. He spent all of his life on Campobello Island, New Brunswick. The last few years he resided at the Campobello Lodge and we thank the staff for his excellent care. He was predeceased by his parents; a brother, Merrill; a sister, Ethel; and a daughter, Ethel. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Helen; a son, Garnett and his wife, JoEllen, of Hermon; a son, Craig and his wife, Marie, of Lubec; and a son-in-law, Martin and his wife, Kelli with their children, Sarah and Mae, of Bocabec, New Brunswick. Lewis was blessed with four grandchildren, Lee and his wife, Fran, of Alton, Laurie of Hermon and Cherie and Heather of Lubec; a sister-in-law, Edith Gardner and her family; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He had fond memories of the Carnes family visiting from the Chicago area. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Eastern Standard Time, Wednesday, Dec. 6, at the Ridge Baptist Church, Lubec, with Pastor Rob Green officiating. Visiting hours will begin 1 p.m. at the church. Burial will be held after at Greenlawn Cemetery. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais and Eastport.
