HOULTON and PRESQUE ISLE – Loomis Alden Burbee Sr., 71, died Aug. 26, 2007, at a local hospital. He was born Feb. 27, 1936, in Fort Fairfield, the son of Hector A. and Mary (McMann) Berube. Loomis was employed as a truck driver and mechanic for many years. He is survived by three sons, Loomis A. Burbee Jr. and his wife, Penny, of Presque Isle, Bruce A. Burbee and his wife, Pearl, of Bennington, Vt., and Steven R. Burbee and his friend, Laura Goldsmith, of Waterville; two daughters, Wanda Mattoon and her husband, Michael, of Springfield, Mass., and Fran Rand and her husband, Michael, of Dunnellon, Fla.; 13 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Patricia (Boulier) Burbee; three brothers, Leonard, Leo and Lynwood; two sisters, Louise Murphy and Bertha Burbee; and a half sister, Doris McMann.
