BUCKSPORT – Lucille Curtis Gilman, 97, wife of the late Donovan F. Gilman, died Sept. 12, 2006, at the home of her sister, Shirley in San Diego. She was born Oct. 23, 1908, in Winterport, a daughter of Charles A. and Lizzie (Holmes) Curtis. Lucille graduated from Winterport High School, Gilman Commercial School and Farmington Normal School. She was a schoolteacher for 12 years in Belfast and Rockland. She became a social worker and worked for the Maine Department of Human Services for more than 30 years. After her retirement, she worked at the Bangor Children’s Home. Lucille was a member of the North Bucksport United Methodist Church, Floral Grange No. 158 and the Bucksport Senior Citizens. Lucille is survived by a stepson, Richard Gilman of Bangor; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her sisters, Shirley Teas of San Diego and Doris Eaton of West Virginia; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband in 1989; a sister, Helen Pelkey in 2000; and a stepdaughter, Evelyn Reichert. A graveside service will be held in the summer of 2007 at the family lot at Oak Hill Cemetery, Winterport at a date to be announced by Foley Funeral Service, Bangor.
