BAR HARBOR and MACHIAS – Lucy K. Monaghan died Sept. 11, 2005, at a Bar Harbor healthcenter. She was born July 30, 1907, in East Machias, the daughter of the late William and Elizabeth (Ackley) Kelley. Lucy graduated from Washington Academy, East Machias and Washington State Normal School, Machias. She was a 50 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Lucy was also a member of the Bar Harbor Senior Citizen Club. She was predeceased by her husband, Bion Curtis Monaghan; a brother, Paul Kelley; and five sisters, Gertrude Libby, Olive Wallace, Nellie Ackley, Jennie Leland and Avis King. Lucy is survived by her daughter, Eleanor Fitzpatrick and her husband, Philip, of Bangor; a granddaughter, Carol Calderwood and her husband, Max, of West Buxton; two grandsons, John Dowling of Amherst and Kevin Fitzpatrick and his wife, Cynthia, of Suwannee, Ga.; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Florence Smith of Bar Harbor. A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16, at the Longfellow Cemetery in Machias. Arrangements are under the care of Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, Machias.
