WINSLOW – Lyle C. Small 79, passed away Monday, Feb. 28, 2005, at Maine General Medical Center -Thayer Unit in Waterville. He was born Feb. 15, 1926, in Plymouth, Maine, a son of Martin V. and Lillian (Bragdon) Small. He graduated from Maine Central Institute in 1946 and then attended Husson College in Bangor. He was employed for 11 years at the Elmwood Hotel. After that with the Depositor’s Trust Company now Key Bank of Maine. The last 14 years of his working career he was employed at the Oakland Office as Assistant Manager and Loan Officer retiring in 1986. From 1972 to 1975 he was treasurer of the Oakland Area Business Association. Since 1951 he had been a member of the Blessed Hope Advent Christian Church in Waterville serving on the Board of Deacons as well as Financial Secretary. He was at one time a member of the Mid Maine Camp of Gideon’s. His hobbies were working on genealogies and caning chairs. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Small of Winslow and her family of Maine, Connecticut and North Carolina; two cousins, Louise Boynton of California and Maynard Large of Massachusetts. Visiting hours will be 2-4 p.m. Wednesday, March 2, at the Lawry Brothers Funeral Home, 107 Main St., Fairfield. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday at the Blessed Hope Advent Church, 10 Pleasant St., Waterville, with Pastor Timothy Setzer officiating. Burial will be in the spring at Mount Hope Cemetery in Augusta.
