PITTSFIELD – Novella Rogers, 83, passed away Feb. 28, 2005, at a Bangor hospital. She was born Nov. 22, 1921, in Dixmont, the daughter of Hanson G. Cookson and Gillian (Edminster) Cookson. She attended Maine Central Institute in Pittsfield; she graduated in the class of 1940. She went to Norman Rogers on July 24, 1942 in Burnham. She was employed as a bookkeeper at Central Maine Power, L&H Chevrolet, and Donald H. Shorey Funeral Chapel, all in Pittsfield. She worked for Dr. Robert Parker of Pittsfield as a receptionist and spent many years as a homemaker. She was a founding member of the Congregational Church in Pittsfield and was very active in it. She was a past member of the Rebekah Lodge in Pittsfield, a member and president of the Pittsfield Tuesday Club, and a member of the Women’s Legislative Council, the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, and the Pittsfield Arts Club. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, knitting and crocheting, and she loved to cook and do canning. She is survived by Norman, her husband of 62 years of Pittsfield; two children, Brian Rogers and his special friend, Sylvia McNichol of Pittsfield, Tania Carnrick and her husband, Douglas, of Winslow; one sister, Lucielle Weed of Waterville; two grandchildren, Jillian and Jarrod, both of Winslow; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday, March 03, 2005, at Donald H. Shorey Funeral Chapel, 35 Hartland Ave., Pittsfield. A funeral service will be 1 p.m. Friday, March 04, 2005, at the funeral chapel with Pastor Carol Granger officiating. Donation may be made in her memory to the First Congregational Church, P.O.
