BREWER and ORRINGTON Madeline M. Murphy, 68, died June 18, 2006, at a Brewer healthcare center. She was born March 2, 1938, in Bangor, the daughter of Louis H. and Madeline M. (Costigan) Montgomery. Madeline or “Bunny” as her father fondly nicknamed her, was a devoted, loving mother. She was an especially kind-hearted lady always willing to help others in need. Bunny was a humble, gentle woman and those who knew her were always touched by her kindness and humor. To know her was to love her. She graduated from Bangor High School and D’Lor Beauty School. She was a self-employed hairdresser and also worked in the shoe manufacturing industry. Surviving are two children, Madeline M. Roberts and her husband, Mark and Lee Murphy Jr., all of Orrington; six grandchildren, Sarah Roberts of Arcata, Calif., Joshua Roberts, Sean and Nicole Murphy, all of Orrington, Jennifer and Jessica York, both of Windham; six nieces and nephews, Tammy Hartley and Shirley Parsons, both of Bangor, Dan Scovil of Surry, Stephen Scovil of Kenduskeag, Peggy Carey and Belinda Brock, both of Texas. She was predeceased by her parents; two children, Christine Murphy and Matthew Murphy; one brother, Robert Montgomery; and one sister, Suzanne Montgomery. She will be fondly remembered by lifelong friends, Ralph Mishou, Leonild Murphy Sr. and Ed Scovil. Madeline’s family wishes to thank the staff at Brewer Rehab. & Living Center for their care. Family and friends may visit 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Kiley Funeral Home, 69 State St., Brewer. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Teresa Catholic Church, Brewer, with the Rev. Joel R. Cyr, pastor, celebrant. Burial will be at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Bangor.
