MILLINOCKET – Malcolm J. “Mack” Lyons, 57, died Monday, June 19, 2006, at a local hospital. He was born Nov. 24, 1948, in Medway, the son of Fay E. and Florence M. (Clukey) Lyons. Mack was a lifelong resident of the Katahdin region having graduated from Schenck High School in 1967. Upon graduation from high school, Mack enlisted in the U.S. Army where he would serve a tour in Vietnam, 1968-1969. After his service to his country, Mack returned home where he would marry his future wife, Gail. Mack worked for many years as a meat cutter in the area, until his retirement. Mack was an avid sportsman who loved hunting and fishing with his friends; his son, Adam; and grandson, Mark, and he especially liked fly-fishing at Nesowadnehunk Lake. He was a member of Bernard Coro Post No. 22, DAV, Medway and a member of Millinocket Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Gail (Gonya) Lyons of Millinocket; his son, Adam and wife, Carrie Lyons, of Millinocket; a grandson, Mark Lyons, also of Millinocket; his mother-in-law, Louise Rush of Millinocket; one sister, Jean Moore of Medway; two brothers, Pete Lyons of East Millinocket and Prince Lyons of Medway. He was predeceased by his parents; his grandmother, Erma Lyons; his brothers, Roy, Donnie, and Paul. Mack will be especially missed by Nancy Lyons, Bonnie Lyons, Lois Garvin, Susan Lyons, and special friends, Linda and Eddie Girsa, Jimmy and Debbie Barnes, and Jeannie and Arthur Libby, Myron and Phyllis Vickers, Jim and Mary Ann Holland, and Herbie Malcolm. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, June 22, at Millinocket Baptist Church, Penobscot Avenue, Millinocket, with the Rev. Rudy Homchuck, pastor, officiating.
