BLUE HILL – Madeline Mattson-Turner, loved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, died Feb. 15, 2006, in Blue Hill. Madeline was born Jan. 16, 1921, in Brewer. Even though her family moved to Quincy, Mass. while she was a child, Maine remained her real home. When she returned to Maine in 1974, it was to Blue Hill, a town and geography she loved. Madeline had a long career as a realtor, both in Virginia and in Maine. She was passionate about her work. She considered finding the “right” home for a person a privilege and a ministry. She remembered her clients and recalled with pride the piece of property or house that had become their home. Madeline enjoyed gathering the family, four children, eight grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. She was anticipating the birth of two additional great-grandchildren this year. She is survived by her children, Kristin Frangoulis, James Mattson, Deborah Mattson, and Bruce “Pete” Mattson; grandchildren in birth order, Robert Mattson, Samuel Furth, Abraham Furth, George Frangoulis, Harris Mattson, Anastacia Frangoulis, Edward Mattson, and James Mattson. Madeline is also survived by her husband, Wilmer Turner; her sister, Olive Reinhalter; her brother, Robert Carter. She was predeceased by her first husband, Robert Mattson; and her second husband, Andrew Robinson; and a brother and a sister. Madeline loved being alive. She had an indomitable spirit and boundless energy. She gave generously, walked daily, worshipped as a Christian Scientist regularly, and made new friends constantly (whether they were people, cats, or dogs). She lived with boldness and whatever she did, she did well. A memorial service will be held to celebrate the gift of her life 1 p.m. Feb. 25, at the First Congregational Church, Tenney Hill, Blue Hill. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Neighborcare, P.O. Box 1122, Blue Hill, ME 04614.
