GOULDSBORO – Marie A. Grover, 67, died Thursday, July 27, 2006, surrounded by loving her loving family and friends, at her home after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer. She was born Jan. 26, 1939, in Gouldsboro, the daughter of the late Maynard A. and Adelia E. (Moore) Young. Marie attended schools in Gouldsboro and graduated from Sumner Memorial High School in 1957. She worked at Fairchild Semiconductor in South Portland for many years. She furthered her education at the former Delore’s Beauty School in Brewer, which is when she started a home business where she was a 30-year licensed beautician at her home in Gouldsboro, retiring in 2004. She was an avid quilt maker and enjoyed the crossword puzzles in the Bangor Daily News. She enjoyed playing board games with her grandchildren including, cards, dominos, cribbage and Scrabble. She was a faithful member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Ellsworth, where she was a Sunday school teacher for many years. She was a very faithful deacon’s wife. She shared nearly 48 years of marriage with Joseph R. Grover Sr. In addition to her husband, family members include, Sherrie L. Hersom and her husband, Allen, of Edgecomb, Joseph R. Grover Jr. and his wife, Pamela, of Media, Pa., Lesli M. McVay and her husband, Christopher, of Hancock; seven grandchildren, Ian and Joseph Hersom, Sarah, Benjamin, Catilin and Jacob Grover and Ethan McVay; her siblings, Earl Young, Lawrence Young, Carl Young, Morris Young, Leonard Young, Warren Young, Jeffrey Young, Loretta Ray, Wanda Gardner; and loved by many nieces, nephews and cousins; and her four footed companion, Emily. She was predeceased by her two brothers, Larry and Gilbert Young. Services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, July 30, at the Emmanuel Baptist Church, Park Street and School Street, Ellsworth. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to call at the church 1 p.m. Sunday until the time of the service. Burial will be after at the Lakeview Cemetery, Gouldsboro.
