BARRE TOWN, Vt. – Marilyn A. Rackliff, 66, of Platinum Plain, died Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2005, at her home. Born July 14, 1939, in Presque Isle, the daughter of Perley and Leah (McNelly) Porter. She graduated from Oakfield High School in 1957, and from Fisher Junior College in Boston, Mass. in 1959. On Oct. 30, 1959, she married Larry E. Rackliff in Andover, N.B. Following their marriage, they lived in Easton and Swanton, Vt., before moving to Barre Town in 1970. He died on March 9, 1993. In earlier years, she worked in the Barre Town Elementary School’s administration department and for the past 23 years as an administration assistant and bookkeeper at U-32 High School in Berlin, retiring in June 2005. A member of the East Barre Congregational Church, her interests were cooking and volunteer service. She especially enjoyed time spent with her grandchildren. Survivors include her daughter, Martha Gherardi and her husband, Mark, of Barre Town; three sons, Henry Rackliff and his wife, Deborah, of Jericho, Vt., Ross Rackliff and his wife, Jeannine, of Medway, Mass. and Matthew Rackliff and his wife, Kathy, of Barre City, Vt.; 10 grandchildren, Paige and Max Gherardi, Leah, Sarah and Mary Reed Rackliff, Ashley and Kailyn Gallagher, Colby and Evan Rackliff and Rachel Rackliff; a sister, Eldora Carter of Easton; a brother, Darrell Porter of Gardner; nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. A Service of Remembrance will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 2, 2006, at East Barre Congregational Church. Internment will take place in the Wilson Cemetery in Websterville, Vt., at a later date. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Sunday, at the Hooker and Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy St., Barre, Vt.
