ENFIELD, Conn., STAFFORD, Conn. and LEBANON – CSM (Ret.) Martin D. “Bob” Picard, 70, of Enfield, Conn., Stafford, Conn. and Lebanon, ME, entered into Eternal Life on Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2005, at Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center, Hartford. He was the beloved husband of Albertine (Godin) Picard for 42 years. Born in Frenchville, he was the son of the late Josephel and Cecile (Michaud). He was a 1953 graduate of Fort Kent High School. During high school, he joined the Maine Army National Guard. Following graduation he went on active duty with the U.S. Army serving during the Korean Conflict. After discharge from the U.S. Army he worked briefly for Hamilton Standard, Windsor Locks. In 1960 he joined the Connecticut Army National Guard working in the Nike Missile System from through 1973. When the Nike Missile System closed down in 1973, Marty went to work at the Army Aviation Support Facility at Bradley Field through 1991 retiring as a full time Technician for the Department of Defense. From 1991 through 1994, Marty served as command sergeant major at the 169th Aviation Battalion in Enfield, Conn., retiring from the military in 1994. At the end of his career he was a highly decorated serviceman. Following retirement from the military, “Pic”, as he was also known, worked as a project manager for Godin Associates in Lebano. He and his wife then moved to Florida…finally! He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Somers, All Saints Council No. 4303. In addition to his wife, Marty is also survived by three sons and a daughter, Patrick M. Picard of North Berwick, Robert D. Picard and his wife, Linda, of Enfield, and Martin D. Picard Jr., also of Enfield; Lisa A. Trudeau and her husband, Denis, of Enfield. He is also survived by a brother and five sisters, Joseph “Lloyd” Picard of Enfield, Jackie Wiers of Gray, Claudette Desjardines of Glastonbury, Lorraine Nadeau and Patti Picard of Fort Kent, and Joyce Chasse of Glastonbury; a daughter-in-law, Amy Picard. There are also nine grandchildren, Destiny, Mallory and Jessica Picard, DJ, Deni and Nicole Trudeau, Robbie, Stephen and Marissa Picard; and a great granddaughter, Jynessa LeBlanc. He was predeceased by a brother, Clifford “Bee” Picard and a granddaughter, Savannah Picard and his dog, Bijou. Marty’s funeral services will begin 9:15 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 19, from Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road, Enfield, followed at 10 a.m. by a Mass of Christian Burial in Saint Patrick’s Church, High Street, Enfield. Burial, with full military honors, will take place in Saint Patrick’s Cemetery, King St., Route 5, Enfield. The Picard Family will receive relatives and friends during calling hours, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 18, at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels. Please omit flowers.
