BREWER – Mary Doyle Sparks, 92, wife of the late Nicholas Sparks, passed away Feb. 27, 2007, after a brief illness. Mary was born Oct. 29, 1914, in Sargentville, to Mary and Osward Hooper. Mary graduated from Hampden Academy and was very proud of the fact that she played basketball there. She then worked for a short time at the Bangor Court House in Registry of Deeds. In 1946, she married Nick and settled in South Brewer, where she lived until the time of her death. She was a great wife, homemaker, gardener and mom. Mary’s friends and neighbors were very important to her and she loved their daily phone calls. Her favorite activity was an afternoon ride and she never missed a day. She was a regular at Brewer Paradis and K.F.C. Mary is survived by her daughter, Melissa and son-in-law, Jim Snow, of Brewer; her pride and joys, grandson No. 1, Jamie Snow and family, Liza, Skylar and Nicholas, of North Las Vegas, Nev.; grandson No. 2, Jeffrey Snow of Brewer, several nephews; and a special sister-in-law, Eula Skypek of Enfield, Conn. She was predeceased by two sisters, Doris and Davida; and a brother, Jim. Burial and graveside service will be in the spring at Mount Hope Cemetery.
