MILLINOCKET – Mary Eva Jewers, 87, wife of the late Robert E. Jewers, died Friday, Aug. 24, 2007, at a Bangor health care facility. She was born May 17, 1920, at Eagle Lake, daughter of Joseph and Malvina (Vaillancourt) Duby. Mary was a communicant of St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, where she served as lector. During World War II, Mary was a civil service plane spotter. Along with her husband, Robert, she owned and operated Bob and Mary’s Market on Medway Road for many years. Mary also worked as a crossing guard and as a custodian for the town of Millinocket. She attended Husson College and used her knowledge in business education for preparing tax returns. Mary was a member of Millinocket Emblem Club, the VFW Auxillary and while in New Smyrna Beach, Fla., was a member of the Harmony Sound Waves. Mary is survived by her children and their spouses, Norma Waye and her husband, Bill, of Millinocket, Kenneth Jewers and his wife, Myra, of Millinocket, Carolyn Guilando and her husband, David, of Glendale, Ariz., Mary Ellen Daigle of Brewer, Michael Jewers and his wife, Cheryl, of Millinocket, Susan K. Moore and her husband, Michael, of Newport News, Va., and Cheryl Albert and her husband, Willie, of Woodville; a daughter-in-law, Bonnie Jewers of Jackson, N.J.; 29 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren, four great- great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband, Mary was predeceased by three sons, Ronald, John and William Jewers; four brothers, and one sister. Friends are invited to visit with the family 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at Lamson Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack St., Millinocket. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 27, at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, 112 Maine Ave., Millinocket, with the Rev. Joel Cyr, pastor, presider.
