ORONO and GLASTONBURY, Conn. – Mary “Katy” Marquez Low, died recently at her home in Glastonbury, Conn. She was born Sept. 14, 1945, in Honolulu, daughter of Charles and Evelyn Marquez. She was a 1963 graduate of Orono High School, a 1967 University of Maine graduate, and member of Phi Mu Sorority. Katy was a dedicated teacher in Connecticut for over 30 years. She was skilled in all the needle arts, loved to grow her own tomatoes and cucumbers and was famous for her homemade pickles, relishes, jellies and jams. Katy was a generous and loyal daughter, sister, aunt and friend. She was predeceased by her father and is survived by her mother of Albuquerque; her brother, Charles and his wife, Cathryn; nephew, Dan and niece, Sarah, all of Orono. She will also be lovingly remembered by her dear friends and teaching colleagues, Nicki O’Neill and Jane Harding O’Donnell. A memorial service to be held in Connecticut will be announced at a later date.
