KITTERY – Mary R. Hosmer, 84, of Sentry Hill in York, died unexpectedly and peacefully Saturday, Nov. 12, 2005, at York Hospital. Mary was a longtime resident of Kittery before moving to Sentry Hill in the summer of 2004. She was born in Woodman, N.H. and spent her youth in Wakefield, N.H., Bartlett, N.H. and Cornish. Mary graduated from High School in Cornish, where she played on the varsity basketball team and received academic awards. She moved to Kittery in 1940 for employment during the build up to World War II where she was employed at the Portsmouth Naval Ship Yard. Mary was a devoted wife to her late husband, Harold E. Hosmer. She is survived by a sister, three sons, six grandchildren, one great-grandchild, nieces and nephews. Mary was dedicated to her family, friends and community. Mary was a long time standing member of the Second Christian Congregational Church in Kittery and an active in all church sponsored activities. Calling hours for Mrs. Hosmer will be held from 1-2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 20, in the Second Christian Congregational Church, 33 Government St., Kittery. A service celebrating her life will be held 2 p.m. in the Church with a reception to follow. Burial will take place 11:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 21, in Pine Grove Cemetery, Bangor. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Kittery Animal Hospital, “Feline Rescue Project”, 195 State Rd., Kittery, ME 03904. Lucas & Eaton Funeral Home, 91 Long Sands Rd., York, is directing arrangements.
