WINTERPORT – Matthew Ryan Osborne, 17, passed away Dec. 24, 2007, at a Bangor hospital, as the result of a tragic accident. He was born July 6, 1990, in Bangor, the son of Jeffery and Karen (Tate) Osborne. Matty was a junior at Hampden Academy, where he was a third-year member of the varsity football team. During his freshman year, he was also a member of the basketball team. Outside of school, Matt was a talented golfer and enjoyed snowmobiling, four-wheeling, weight training, hunting and fishing. Matt loved his pets, his cat, George; his yellow lab, Maddy; and his past dog, Jackie. He worked as a stock boy at Shaw’s Super Market, Main Street, Bangor. Matty will be remembered for his contagious smile and his funny sense of humor, but most of all as a great and loving, son, brother, grandson and friend. Matt is survived by his beloved parents, Jeffery and Karen of Winterport; his sister, Meghan Osborne and fianc?, Nick Fox; maternal grandparents, Charlotte and Edwin Tate of Eddington; paternal grandparents, Carlene and Phillip Osborne Sr. of Bangor; maternal aunts and uncles, Kristine and Dale Chapman, and Eddie and Stacy Tate; maternal great-aunt, Theresa Ann Rentz and Richard of Florida; maternal great-uncle, Gerry Martin and Rose; paternal aunts and uncles, Butch and Vicki Osborne, Mike and Juliette Osborne, and Missy and Adam Kneeland; cousins, Kasey and Jake Chapman, Emily and Will Tate, Jamie, Kayla and Nick Osborne, Gwen and Issaic Osborne, William, Bradon and Kade Kneeland; his “Winterport Buddies,” Bruce Dow, James Mylen, Shawn Smith, Matt Wibberly, Nate Coolidge, Darren Grover, Cameron Arrigoni, Max Goodman, Justin Brown; the “HA” football team and many other friends. Visiting hours will be held 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden. A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Matthews Catholic Church, 70 Western Ave., Hampden, with the Rev. Robert Vaillancourt, pastor, presiding. Interment in the springtime will be at Jonathan Eddy Cemetery, Eddington.
