BANGOR – Maxine A. (Avery) Osgood, 88, died Dec. 25, 2005, at a Bangor healthcare center. She was born Jan. 21, 1917, in Dover-Foxcroft, the daughter of Eugene and Mabel (Norton) Avery. Maxine grew up in Dover-Foxcroft and graduated from Dover High School in 1934. She worked various jobs throughout her life and she especially enjoyed reading and doing crossword puzzles. She is survived by her four children from her first husband, the late Clyde Dority, Wayne Dority and his friend, Norma Sawyer, of Winterport, Shirley Seavey, Mary Lou Holmes, Elwyn “Elbow” Dority and his wife, SueEllen, all of Bangor; two grandsons, Robert Dority and Christopher Dority; several stepgrandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, James Osgood in 1985. A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, at Kiley Funeral Home, 69 State St., Brewer, with Pastor Brian Haggerty of the Neighborhood Church of CMA, officiating.
