HERMON – Maynard O. Hawes Sr., 68, died peacefully Oct. 22, 2004, at his home. He was born July 17, 1936, in Carmel, the son of Guy A. and Dorothy (Emery) Hawes. He was a graduate of Carmel High School. Maynard served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was later employed with Pepsi Cola for nine years then with Sanborns Motor Express for more than 20 years. He was a member of the Teamsters Local No. 340. Maynard enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing and four wheeling. Surviving are his longtime companion, Gloria Cavanaugh of Hermon; four children, Michelle Cobb of Clinton, Maynard O. Hawes Jr. and his wife, Lee Ann Hawes, of Stetson, Mark A. Hawes and his wife, Kimberly Hawes, of Levant, Richard A. Hawes of Glenburn; six grandchildren, Miranda Cobb, Mariah Cobb, Kylie Hawes, Jordan Hawes, Tyler Hawes and Parker Hawes; siblings, Joan E. Bush of Carmel, Joyce M. Richards and her husband, David Richards, of Scarborough, Wayne A. Hawes and his wife, Lois Hawes, of Stetson, Gary L. Hawes of Massachusetts, Guy A. Hawes Jr. and his wife, Naomi Hawes, of Carmel, Janet M. Hawes of Carmel; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Richard A. Hawes. Private services will be held Monday at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, with the Rev. Dr. Rex H. Garrett Jr., director of Chaplaincy Services, EMMC, officiating.
