NEWPORT and POQUOSON, Va. – Michelle (Ray) Lafferty, 19, died June 14, 2006, at Portsmouth Naval Medical Center in Portsmouth, Va. She was born Feb. 7, 1987, in Parkersburg, W.Va., a daughter of Michael and Diane (Zents) Ray. She had been a member of the Junior ROTC and was the director of Peds Wheels, a non-profit organization decorating wheelchairs for children. In addition to her parents of Parkersburg, W.Va.; husband, Neal, of Virginia, she is survived by a son, Remy Lafferty of Poquoson, Va.; two brothers, Michael Jr. Steven Ray of Parkersburg, W.Va.; a sister, Sharon Arps of Columbus, Ohio; her mother-in-law, Lynn (Ludlow) Lafferty; and brother-in-law, Devin of Derry, N.H. Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Crosby & Neal, 117 Main St., Newport. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 21, at High Street Congregational Church, Newport with Pastor Al H. Worden officiating.
