BANGOR – Miriam L. Smith, 95, wife of the late Richmond M. Smith Sr., died Feb. 26, 2007, at a Bangor health care center. She was born Jan. 20, 1912, in Bangor, the daughter of Frederick and M. Louise (McCloskey) Morrison. Miriam was a lifelong resident of Bangor where she graduated from Bangor High School in 1929, and later graduated from a business college. She married in 1939 and, after her children graduated, worked for the city of Bangor in the finance and public health departments. Miriam was also a lifelong communicant of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Bangor. Surviving are one son, Richmond M. Smith Jr. and his wife, Sylvia, of Bangor; one daughter, Mary Louise Heinemann and her husband, Peter, of Needham, Mass.; a daughter-in-law, Carole Smith of Bangor; four grandchildren, David Smith and his wife, Brenda, Karen Smith, Robert Heinemann, and Meaghan McAvoy and her husband, Oliver; three great-grandchildren, Amelia Kate McAvoy, Patrick Richmond Smith and Gillian Rose Smith; several nieces and nephews, including Margaret Welch and Patricia Goss, who provided much help to her throughout the last few years. She was predeceased by her husband, Richmond; a son, Robert Smith; a sister, Margaret Welch; and a brother, Robert Morrison. Family and friends may visit 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Foley Funeral Service, 299 Union St., Bangor. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Bangor, with the Rev. Thomas Lequin, pastor, celebrant. Burial will be at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Bangor.
