OLD TOWN – Myrlene Joan Jack, 65, loving mother, grandmother and friend, passed away Dec. 2, 2006, surrounded by her family and friends after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born Sept. 22, 1941, in Old Town, the only child of Edmund and Alexandrine (Cyr) Garceau. Myrlene graduated from Old Town High School, Class of 1960. She worked as the senior clerk at the Old Town City Hall for 23 years. She also worked for several years at Happy Acres Bottle Club, Alton, as a cashier. Myrlene was often recognized and known as the “ring lady,” as she always wore several unique rings. She enjoyed collecting rings, going for rides, shopping, knitting, participating in craft fairs and spending time with her family and friends. Being a morning person, Myrlene always looked forward to meeting her friends for breakfast. She was also a big animal lover. Myrlene was predeceased by her father in 1972 and mother in 1993. She is survived by her two loving daughters, Darlene and her husband, Dave Dumond, of Old Town and Lois Marshall of Corinth; grandson, Joshua Marshall; cousin, Lorraine Ramsey; nieces and nephews; and close friends, Lynnette Beal and Marilyn O’Clair. She will be deeply missed by all those who have known and loved her. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, at the Holy Family Parish, Old Town. Interment will be held after at Evergreen Cemetery, Bradley. Family and friends are invited to a luncheon immediately after the burial at the parish hall. Those who are unable to attend the burial may await the family’s return in the parish hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Old Town Animal Orphanage, P.O. Box 565, Orono, ME 04473. Arrangements are under the care of Birmingham Funeral Home, Old Town.
