BANGOR and HANFORD, Calif. – Myrtle L. (Bailey) Spencer, 95, passed away Oct. 6, 2003, in Hanford, Calif. She was born Jan. 16, 1908, in Haynesville, the daughter of David and Elvira (Kelley) Bailey. Myrtle lived in the Bangor-Brewer area for many years before moving to California in 1976 near her daughter. She was a member of the Glad Tidings Church in Hanford, Calif. She is survived by two daughters, Margaret Barlow of Hanford, Calif., and Grace Oakes of Holden; two sisters, Olive Hall and Inez Washburn, both of Brewer; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, James Spencer in early 2003, in Brockton, Mass. She will be remembered by a special friend, David Justice of California. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 13, 2003, at Kiley Funeral Home, 69 State St., Brewer, where a funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2003, with the Rev. Katherine Fisk, pastor of the Holden Congregational Church, Holden, officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Bangor.
