SAYREVILLE, N.J. – Nicholas J. Cerbone died peacefully Nov. 18, 2003, at his home in Sayreville, N.J., after a long illness. He was born and raised in Bayonne and was a veteran of World War II, having served in France and Italy. For his loyal service he received the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal and the Purple Heart. He was employed by the J.M. Huber Co., Edison, N.J., for 31 years. Nick is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Catherine; a son, Tony Cerbone and his wife, Dorothy, of Brewer; a daughter, Mary Cerbone and son-in-law, John DeChiaro of Bayonne, N.J.; three grandchildren, Kristen Hirsch, Amanda Lynde and Dean Cerbone-DeChiaro; five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 22, at Our Lady of Victories Catholic Church, in Sayreville, N.J.
