CRYSTAL – Olin J. Slauenwhite, 84, died peacefully Sept. 25, 2005, at his home watching his favorite team, the Red Sox. He was born Jan. 14, 1921, in Oakfield, the son of Lawrence and Hazel Slauenwhite. He graduated from Oakfield High School, worked on the B&A Railroad and lumber mills in Maine before moving to Clinton, Mass., where he worked for Wheetabix Cereal until his retirement. He then moved to Florida for several years before returning to Maine where he made his home with his stepdaughter, Alice Louise Mahan. All of his life he enjoyed all sports especially the Red Sox. Also bowling, picking all kinds of berries, gardening and helping others. He is survived by two brothers, Merwin and his wife, Lucille, of Clinton, Mass. and Wilfred and his wife, Norma Lou, of Florida; five stepchildren, Thelma Curry of Florida, Eugene Tidd and his wife, Lois, of Connecticut, Hazel Brewer and her husband, Thomas, of Crystal, Alice Louise Mahan of Crystal and Cecil Roger Tidd of Houlton; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Ruby Tidd Slauenwhite; his parents and two sisters, Coleen Draper and Margaret Cashman; and one brother, Nick Slauenwhite. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday at the Crystal Wesleyn Church with the Rev. Peter Main officiating. Interment will be in the Dyer Brook Cemetery.
