HANCOCK – Oscar “Fred” Blue, 63, passed away peacefully Oct. 25, 2006, after a brief illness at a local hospital. He was born June 28, 1943, in Middletown, Conn., the son of Oscar and Mildred Blue. Fred grew up and went to school in East Hampton, Conn. He joined the Navy Reserve after high school and served as a radio electronic technician. He moved to Maine and worked 32 years at Winter Harbor Naval Air Station, retiring after the closing of the air station. He enjoyed collecting and working on antique automobiles. He was an amateur historian of aviation and transportation. He is survived by one brother, Andrew and his wife, Shirley Blue, of Ellington, Conn.; and many cousins. Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, 175 Downeast Highway, Ellsworth. Burial will be in Connecticut at a later date. www.bragdonkelley.com
