BANGOR – Patricia Ann Lettieri, 70, died peacefully on April 15, 2004, at a Bangor hospital surrounded by her family after a five-month courageous struggle with re-current breast cancer. She was born Aug. 27, 1933, in Washington, D.C., the daughter of Thomas J. and Delores (Madigan) Maher. Pat graduated from Parkland Hospital School of Nursing and was a registered nurse for 50 years. She was well known at the hospital for her nursing skills and compassionate ways. But most of all, Pat was known for her devotion to her family. She was extremely close to her four daughters, her four sons-in-law, and of course, to her 10 grandchildren. She was actively involved in her grandchildren’s lives, attending numerous swim meets, soccer games and football games. She was very proud of their accomplishments and bragged about them often. Pat was also very creative and could create wonderful things; elaborate birthday cards, scrapbooks, birthday cakes, the list goes on and on. Pat was also a gifted cross-stitcher. She loved to cross-stitch presents for her friends and family. She taught her granddaughter, Michelle, how to cross-stitch and so her skills are passed on to the next generation. Pat was a devoted Dallas Cowboys football fan. Until this year when she became sick she had never missed a home Cowboys football game since she purchased season tickets in the 1960s. She attended all five of the Super Bowls that the Cowboys were in. Pat loved to travel and has been all over the United States and the world. She toured hospitals in China, took vacations in England, Germany, Australia, New Zealand and Egypt. Pat will be remembered by numerous friends who loved her very much, including Lynette and Derrick Alcorn of Irving, Texas, and their daughter, Asia, Julia Henderson of Shamrock, Texas, and her adopted daughter, Irina Dakhondaridze, a foreign exchange student from the Republic of Georgia. She will be missed by her loyal Golden Retriever, Jake. Pat was predeceased by her mother and father. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Luanna and Mark Beauchamp and their children, Adrianna, Eli and Lucas of Bangor; her daughter and son-in-law, Tina and Greg Gist and their children, Amanda and Michelle of Bangor; her daughter and son-in-law, Tricia and Tapash Sarcar and their children, Kara, Alli and Bryce of Rowlett, Texas; her daughter and son-in-law, Mia and John Spann and their daughter, Taylor, of Midlothian, Texas; her adult granddaughter, Jessica Beauchamp and her daughter, Avery; her sisters, Teresa Montgomery of Hutto, Texas, Myra Maher of Lemez Springs, N.M.; her brothers, Tom Maher of Thailand, Paul Maher of Los Angeles, George Maher of Dallas, Texas; her step-mother, Emma Maher of Dallas, Texas; her niece, Nike Bottalico of Austin, Texas; and several other nieces and nephews. A service of remembrance will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, April 17, 2004, at the First Church of the Nazarene on Union Street in Bangor with the Rev. Brian Hale officiating. A reception will be held at the church immediately after the service. A service of Brookings-Smith, Bangor.
