COLUMBIA FALLS – Patricia B. Grant, 78, of Columbia Falls died Saturday Nov. 19, 2005, at the Downeast Community Hospital, due to complications after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. She was born March 12, 1927, in Taunton, Mass., the daughter of Henry F. and Nora Plummer Bayley. She is survived by a devoted and loving husband of 48 years, Richard H. Grant, of Columbia Falls; their two sons, Alan and wife, Violet, of Columbia Falls and Bayley and wife, Rebecca, of Centerville; four grandchildren, Jonathon and wife, Leslie, of Canton, Mass., Benjamin of Columbia Falls, Elizabeth, currently attending St. Joseph’s College in Standish and Bethany of Centerville; two brothers, Bruce Bayley and wife, Shirley, of North Attleboro, Mass. and Lewis Bayley and wife, Louise, of Bangor. She was predeceased by a son, Jesse A. Grant. She attended primary schools in Mansfield, Mass. and graduated from Mansfield High School in 1945. Her summers for many years were spent at her mother’s restaurant, the Bonnie Brook Bungalow, in Harrington. She enjoyed gardening, canning, cooking, taking her boys blueberrying and spending the warm summer months at the family camp on Flanders Pond in Sullivan. She was an avid antique collector. She belonged to the Columbia Falls United Methodist Church, and was a member of the Milbridge Current Events Club. Patty had a great passion for button collecting. She was a member of six Button Society’s, State of Maine, State of Massachusetts, State of Michigan, National, Northeast Regional and Tri- County. She and her husband, with Alan and Violet, were owners and operators of the Holbrook Inn in Bar Harbor. During her struggle against Parkinson’s, she was able to remain comfortable at home, due to the assistance, dedication, and extreme compassion of Martha Johnson, a care giver from Care & Comfort. Services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 23, at the Columbia Falls United Methodist Church, officiated by Pastor Jeremy Towne and Dr. Benjamin Carr. Committal services will be private, held at a later date. Relatives and friends are invited to Richard and Patricia’s home, 35 High Ridge Rd., immediately following the church services. In lieu of flowers, Patricia has requested that contributions in her name be made to Columbia Falls United Methodist Women, care of Clara Driscoll, P.O. Box 18, Columbia Falls, ME 04623
