HOWLAND – Paul L. Colbath, 77, died June 26, 2007, at his home. He was born Dec. 25, 1929, in How-land, the son of Wesley G. and Hazel C. (Lorentson) Colbath. Paul graduated from Howland High School in 1947, and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1950 to 1954. He worked at Great Northern Paper Co.-Georgia Pacific for 32 years as a machinist and retired in 1987. For several years, he continued his life’s work at home as a machinist. Paul spent many winters in Florida with his wife, Betty and some of their Howland friends. Paul dearly loved times spent up at his camp in Seboeis. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and airplanes. Paul always enjoyed his annual fishing trips to Canada with Don Buck, and his annual trips to Greenville for the fly-in. Paul was a past master of Masonic Lodge No. 168, past patron of Eastern Star, a member of the Shriners, the Northern Shrine Club, and the American Legion Post No. 97 of Howland. In addition to his wife, Elizabeth “Betty” (Kelly) Colbath, Paul is survived by two sons, son, Stuart Colbath and Donna, grandchildren, Wesley and Lindsey Colbath, all of Orono, and son, Randal Colbath and Tami of Howland, grandchildren, Seth, Bianca, and Sarah Colbath, and great-grandson, Seth Jr.; a daughter, Cathy (Colbath) Mansur and her friend, Charles Henry, of Lincoln, grandchildren Carly Mansur Cropley and husband, Bill, Colby and Aaron Mansur, great-grandson, Brydon Cropley; sister, Janet Wilson of North Kingstown, R.I.; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Annie Colbath. Friends may call 1-3 p.m. Friday, June 29, at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Rd., Lincoln, with a memorial service to begin at 3 p.m. Interment will be at Howland Cemetery. A gathering of friends and family will be held after the interment at the home of Randy and Tami Colbath in Howland.
