ASHLAND – Paul W. Fleming 71, died unexpectedly April 24, 2005, at a Presque Isle hospital. He was born Sept. 14, 1933, in Oxbow, the son of William and Mattie (Reed) Fleming. Paul had worked as a machinist for the Microwave Development Lab making components for the first Apollo spacecraft. He later joined his wife’s business in Hopkinton, Mass. as a professional quilter and installer of window dressings, that they manufactured for some of the finest homes and business’s in the country. They also owned and operated Fleming’s Hunting Camps in Ashland for 19 years. Paul was a member and Past President of the Hoptkinton Lions Club for 27 years, the Maine Sporting Camp Assoc. and the Maynard Rod and Gun Club in Maynard, Mass. Surviving him is his wife of 50 years, Myrna Faye (Soucier) Fleming of Masardis; three daughters and their families, Cathy and Paul Shirley and their children, Jennifer, Ashley, Brian and Stacey of Whitinsville, Mass.; Debbie and Alan Budd and their children, Rachel, Greg and Andria of Blackstone, Mass.; and Patty and Ken Frasier and their children, Nick and Kristy of Douglas, Mass.; Paul also leaves two sisters and their husbands, Patricia and Reginald Mountain of Mapleton and Carlene and Bernard Howes of Ashland and several nieces and nephews. Also surviving Paul is Myrna’s family, Francis Legassie and her children; and grandchildren, Evelyn Friis and her children, and grandchildren, Hadley and Ella Soucier and their children and grandchildren and Jeannine and Leonard Tremblay and their children and grandchildren. Relatives and friends may call from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, at the Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St,. Presque Isle. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 1 p.m. Thursday, at St. Marks Catholic Church in Ashland.
