CARIBOU – Philip Fredrick Bell, 77, husband of Esther Bell, died June 23, 2005, at Bangor after a brief illness. He was born Oct. 21, 1927, in Woodland, the son of Fred and Annie (Squirrel) Bell. Phil was educated in the Caribou school system and served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He was employed at Caribou Ford, Anderson Beverage and was head of maintenance at the Aroostook Trust Co. and Maine National Bank until his retirement. He was a life member of the Lister-Knowlton Post No. 9389 VFW and a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Phil was a loving and devoted husband and father to his family. He married Esther (Theriault) Bell April 29, 1954. Surviving in addition to his wife of Caribou are three sons and a daughter-in-law, Craig Bell of Hallowell, Wayne Bell of Saco, and Fred and Peggy Bell of Caribou; two daughters and a son-in-law, Jean Szczepanski of Bath and Lynn and Hampton Jackson of Caribou; one brother, Joseph Bell, of Mill Cove, N.B., Canada; three sisters, Adeline Hammer and Mrs. Clairmond (Pearl) Belanger, both of Caribou, and Clara Bell, of Eagle Lake; one sister-in-law, Marjorie Bell, of Caribou; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one brother, William Bell; and one sister, Irene Doody. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the Mockler Funeral Home 24 Reservoir St., Caribou, with evening military services being held at 7 p.m. by the officers and members of the VFW. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m., Monday, June 27, 2005, at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church with the Fr. Jean-Paul Labrie, pastor, officiating in a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will take place at the Northern Maine Veterans Cemetery.
