CARIBOU – Phyllis G. Libby Burgess, 77, died Nov. 11, 2004 at Caribou. She was born May 4, 1927, in Bangor, the daughter of Miles and Berniece (King) Mersereau. Phyllis attended the Bangor schools and was a graduate of the University of Maine at Presque Isle. She was employed as a secretary for the Presque Isle Water District and had also been employed by Sears and Dana’s Pharmacy in Presque Isle. She was predeceased by her first husband, Judson E. Libby and her second husband, Hollis Burgess. She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Judson L. and Deborah Libby of North Monmouth; five daughters and four sons-in-law, Gloria and Mark Goughan of Caribou, Betty and Edward McCormick of Stamford, Conn., Peggy and Terry Quinlin of Westbrook, Jane and Scott Thomas of Elgin, Ill., and Sue Burgess of Holden; one brother, Edward McNerney of Gorham; eight grandchildren, Christopher and Dustin Libby, Kelli Michaud, Kristi and Katie Goughan, Edward and Holly McCormick, and Johnathon Malloy; three great-grand-children, Reagan, Evan, and Kara; her very dear friend, Evelyn Holder of Presque Isle; several nieces and nephews. Friends are invited for a time of remembrance of Phyllis’s life from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 21, 2004, at the home of Mark and Gloria Goughan, 872 Fort Fairfield Road, Caribou.
